Appreciation is a great word which denotes a positive emotion. Actually for me and I dare say most assuredly each one of us is reminded of fun times with family and friends. Especially at this time of year getting ready for Christmas and Thanksgiving which by the way is being celebrated this week in the United States. We as Canadians have already celebrated our Thanksgiving Holiday, however, we must all remember that being grateful is an everyday occurrence or should be. To say that my bounty is overflowing is but an understatement, I am beyond thankful and I work at never taking that for granted. It is so important to never forget where we come from. Personally I am living a much better life than my parents and/or grandparents ever did. The holidays are associated with love and care and no words can express how full I feel — except of course repeating ‘thank you’ as much as I can. John Nilton in Paradise Lost said these words — and I tend to agree with him; “Whoever does not express his gratitude to people will never be grateful to God.”
For those of us who are so blessed to have — appreciate it, savour it, share it. Do you realize if we all just shared our blessings with one other person the whole world would benefit one shade at a time? Life is beautiful ~ we must give from our hearts. Giving brings hope, anything and any amount can bring hope to the hungry. People who are not just hungry for food but love, tenderness, caring, a hug, even a smile can make a difference in a life. Can we commit to reaching beyond our own walls to extend a hand of love to our fellow man? The simple answer here is yes, of course we can. It doesn’t mean you have to sleep on a bed of nails and give up your mattress. Give from what you have not from what you don’t have. Bless someone today. You may be the only one who ever has.
